About Historical Faith

Restoring the Faith Once Delivered

Welcome to Historical Faith, an independent Bible-study ministry devoted to examining Scripture in its historical, linguistic, and theological context.

My name is Darrell George, and I live in Middle Tennessee. I created Historical Faith to encourage serious reconsideration of beliefs that many Christians inherit but rarely have the opportunity to examine closely.

The guiding purpose of this site is expressed in Jude 3: to “contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” That calling requires more than defending familiar traditions. It requires returning to the biblical text, investigating the historical development of doctrine, and allowing the evidence to challenge long-held assumptions.

Our Biblical Perspective

Historical Faith approaches biblical scholarship through the lens of strict biblical monotheism—the conviction that the one God of Scripture is the Father, who is distinct from His Son, Jesus Christ.

We openly reject the post-biblical framework of one God in three persons in favor of the unitary monotheism consistently expressed throughout the biblical text. At the same time, we affirm Jesus as the promised Messiah, the uniquely begotten Son of God, the risen Lord, and the one through whom God offers salvation and will judge the world.

This perspective is stated openly because no interpreter approaches Scripture without assumptions. Readers deserve to know the framework from which a writer is reasoning so they can evaluate the arguments and evidence for themselves.

Why This Site Exists

Historical Faith explores biblical passages, translation questions, early Christian history, and the development of doctrines concerning God and Christ. It also examines influential theological arguments that are often repeated as settled facts but deserve closer investigation.

The purpose is not to replace careful study with another collection of assertions. Wherever possible, the articles present the relevant passages, historical sources, linguistic evidence, and competing interpretations so readers can reach informed conclusions.

Disagreement is expected. Honest examination is welcomed. The ultimate question is not whether a teaching is traditional or popular, but whether it can withstand careful evaluation in the light of Scripture.

An Invitation to Examine the Evidence

Historical Faith remains a work in progress. I do not claim personal infallibility, and the material on this site may be revised as additional evidence comes to light. Readers are encouraged to verify every claim, examine the cited sources, and measure every conclusion against the Word of God.

If you believe something has been stated inaccurately or important evidence has been overlooked, you are welcome to contact me. Thoughtful correction strengthens the search for truth.

Thank you for visiting Historical Faith. I invite you to investigate the evidence, test inherited assumptions, and join in the continuing effort to restore the faith once delivered.
